Our Story

Your Hosts

As a host, it is important to me that our guests experience a snow holiday with ambience and alpine charm. I want people to love with our mountain home as we do.

Most of the time you will find me at the reception. I love my family, my job, alpine & cross-country skiing and road biking in my spare time.

I love chatting with our guests and giving them advice on how to get the most out of their snow holiday. You will often find me in the snowsports shop assisting with rental and helping guests with advice on equipment or the resort.

In my spare time I enjoy alpine & backcountry skiing, motorcycling & mountain biking.

The Falls Creek Hotel Story…..

A Hotel with a long family history and tradition.

The Falls Creek Hotel has been a family owned and operated business since it opened in 1972, but even before that the family started their Falls Creek journey back in 1965.

It was Lisa’s grandparents, Ivan and Joy Spargo that made the bold move to relocate from Melbourne to Falls Creek. They purchased piece of leasehold land and built Spargo Lodge. This was a dorm style chalet built to accommodate large groups and families.

Rob Spargo met Blanche in 1967 when she was on holiday in Falls Creek. They married and purchased the site where the Falls Creek Hotel is today. The steep gradient of the site was a challenge to build on but was the best location available in the village. In 1970 Rob’s sister Leonie and her husband Glenn joined the business, and they started operating in 1972.

The family was instrumental in the establishment and growth of the Falls Creek community and were involved in the foundation of Falls Creek Primary School and Falls Creek Search & Rescue (now Falls Creek SES). Rob was also involved in the start-up of Ski Victoria and has served as a member the Chamber and Resort Management Board. Rob’s eldest daughter Lisa competed with the Australian Ski Team from 1985 to 1989 and has worked as a ski instructor in Australia, Austria & Colorado.

In 2010 Lisa and her husband Damien Allport joined the family business and Rob & Blanche retired to their home in Tawonga South in 2014 and Leonie & Glenn retired to Melbourne in 2017.

Lisa & Damien’s two boys attended the Falls Creek Primary School, Falls Creek Academy and Race Club are now the fourth generation of the family enjoying the alpine lifestyle.

With a passion for the mountains and a love of their home the family is committed to continuing the Hotel traditions long into the future.
